Interglobal Revolution - HB Chee

CBE rating: 3.90 Stars

Hon Bong Chee has offered some very insightful suggestions in this book on Business and Politics from a Global perspective . I believe that this book is timeless and fitting for our day and age. He speaks of how if we just take the time to around us, we can see opportunities that we hadn’t noticed before simply because everything was too familiar. I remember somethings Earl Nightingale said. He said, “Familiarity breathes contempt”. In essence, because we are so familiar with surroundings, our environment, our global neighbors,  we are desensitized to the many opportunities that lie before us. We must change or thinking. We must change our scope of things and THINK GLOBALLY. Because business is no longer local, it global.

This is the revolution that’s been happening for years. We must embrace it and not allow fear to dictate our vision and our mission. Mankind needs us. The world needs us. Let’s approach our vision and purpose with passion and run the good race with all our might, that the legacy that we leave behind may be one that is spoken of and inspires for generations to come.

Think Like A Billionaire, Become A Billionaire

CBE rating: 3.85 Stars

The subject of money, in some circles, is a subject that most pastors prefer not discussing with their parishioners. I think that this is a mistake. This subject ought to be discussed from time to time. Not to promote greed or worldliness, but to encourage stewardship in the life of the believer.

Christ spoke about money more than any other subject during his earthly ministry. More than Love, evil, sacrifice, Etc. So why is it that we equate rich with evil and poverty with piety? This book is one that offers some biblical views of how we are to think about money and how we are to use money. While promoting a balance view in ones approach towards money, the author is not requiring its readers to be worldly in order to achieve financial freedom and increase net worth. Quite the contrary, the author points out that we must put on the mind of Christ that we may have a godly approach towards money.

The aim of the author, I believe, is not that the reader desire to become a billionaire. However, I think the aim here is to change one’s thinking in money matters, persistence, faith, godly stewardship of one’s resources, work ethic, and time management with a God-ward view. And in doing these things, you will reap, in this process of this change, the reward of becoming a financially stable individual that glorifies God in their stewardship of money.

I also thought the workbook in the rear of the book offers some helpful tools on:

  • Personal Vision
  • Budgeting
  • Personal accountability
  • Mind changing biblical references
  • Discipline
  • Tips on how to achieve Good Credit
  • The rewards & building a road map to savings
  • Time management
  • And more

My conclusion is that this book is a good read for the lay person, including, both single and married persons, teens, church leaders, non-profit administrators, executives, and corporate leaders.

I have found this book to be balanced and filled with the wisdom of God. The principals in this book can be understood by the inexperienced entrepreneur as well as the seasoned. Larry Burkett offers some fundamental and practical principles that should be taken into advisement so as to prevent some of the pitfalls that most entrepreneurs, business leaders, and corporate executives make, especially in the area of people and financial management. I have found this author’s work to be consistent in his delivery of conveying a message of accountability, integrity and reverence of God.

Here is an excerpt from the introduction of this book: We are instructed, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Prov. 3:5). The purpose of Business by the book is to help you trust in the Lord in your business life.

This book held true to its intended purpose.

  3. I loved your comment on Business by the Book. I’ve followed some of the advice from this book and have found it to be very helpful and insightful. I too would recommend this book to anyone that would like to honor God in their business.

Have you read Larry’s other book: Money Matters? I would love to see your comment and review on this book.

    Thanks,

    Robert

  4. Robert, it’s great to see that you too follow Larry’s work. He was truly a man of God. Dear I say a man after God’s own heart. I think we as believers, need to spread the word to other believers when we come across great work like what brother Larry offered, so that other can have the same privilege we had in being blessed with resources like this book.

Robert, I hope to see you back soon making more comments. I look forward to your insight.

  5. Hey Robert, if you have any other books that you can recommend or would like to see a review on, let me know. I’ll see if I have it in my library – my library is a big one.

  6. Robert, I do have Money Matters. I will post a review on this soon.
